At SmallStep, your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our services.

1. Information We Collect

SmallStep stores your plans, tasks, and usage preferences locally on your device using Apple’s secure storage (Core Data). No personal task data is uploaded to our servers without your explicit action.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

• Help you track and manage your habits and daily steps
• Sync subscription and entitlement information via RevenueCat
• Improve app experience, animations, and personalization

3. Data Sharing and AI Services

By default, your task and habit data remain private on your device. However, when you interact with AI features (e.g., generating a daily plan, generating reflection and feedback with AI), anonymized prompts may be sent to third-party AI services such as Google Gemini or OpenAI.

• We do not intentionally send personally identifying information in these prompts. • These providers process text in real time and, per their stated policies, do not use your data to train their models. • Future versions of iOS may support Apple’s on-device large language models (LLMs), which will be preferred when available to keep all AI processing on your device.

4. Data Retention

Since your task data is stored locally, deleting the app also deletes your information. Subscription and purchase history may be retained by Apple App Store and RevenueCat in accordance with their policies.

5. Security

Local data is stored securely using Apple’s Core Data framework. Data transmitted to third-party AI providers or RevenueCat is encrypted in transit.

6. Your Rights

You can delete your local data anytime by removing the app, or request deletion of subscription-related records via our contact form.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as we introduce new AI features or integrations. Updates will be posted here, and significant changes will be communicated in-app.
